Amazing Opportunity for 6-12 grade STEM or STEAM Teachers
MIT & Westminster University Collaboration
WAIT ….until you hear the cost of this amazing opportunity (read until the end).
Last year, I attended an amazing Professional Development on the MIT campus in Boston with middle and high school STEM and STEAM teachers. It was an engaging, innovative, and hands-on PD. The founders of this PD want to bring it to teachers in the Western United States.
I'm the coordinator for the first-ever collaboration with MIT and Westminster to provide cutting-edge professional development to secondary (middle and high school) teachers. I would love for you to COME… would love your help sending this out to the faculty, schools, districts, and organizations in the Mountain West.
Thanks for getting the word out.
What is SEPT?
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) & Westminster University are collaborating for the first time to offer a Science and Engineering Program for Teachers (SEPT). This professional development initiative is designed to immerse secondary school educators in the latest advancements in the STEM field.
Program Highlights:
Presentations: Participants attend presentations by MIT & Westminster scientists and researchers, exploring new frontiers in STEM. I’ll be doing one on how STEM/STEAM teachers can scaffold for Multilingual Learners.
Hands-on Workshops: Educators engage in interactive sessions utilizing the latest STEM tools.
Community Building: SEPT fosters a collaborative environment, allowing educators to network with peers from around the world and share best practices.
For the 2025 session, SEPT is scheduled from June 25-27, 2025 on the beautiful Westminster University Campus in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The program offers 2 specialized tracks:
Broadening Participation in STEM: This track focuses on strategies to encourage and support a broader range of students to be interested in STEM fields including Multilingual Learners.
Use and Design of Games and Simulations: Participants learn to incorporate games and simulations into their teaching to enhance systems learning and computational literacy.
Optional evening trip to the Great Salt Lake!
The tuition fee for the 3-day program WAS $400 per participant, which covers lodging in Westminster University dormitories, most meals, and all course materials. The price is low as it is underwritten by the RJ Foundation.
